Therapy Specialties:

Hi, I’m Amy! I work with kids, teens, adults, and families who are doing their best to hold it all together—but often feel unseen, misunderstood, or unsure how to move forward. My approach blends compassion with practical guidance to help you find steadiness, confidence, and hope again.

No matter what brings you in—academic struggles, family stress, health challenges, or life transitions—I believe healing begins when you feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

How I Can Help You

I have a special heart for kids and parents navigating academic or developmental challenges such as ADHD, dyslexia, or autism to name a few. When school feels hard and confidence starts to slip, I help kids rebuild a sense of capability and self-worth while equipping parents with tools to better support them.

I also connect deeply with “fly under the radar” kids—those who try to do everything right so they won’t be noticed or get in trouble. Beneath that quiet compliance often lies worry and self-doubt. Together, we create safety for them to be seen, express emotions, and feel secure in who they are.

For families adjusting to health challenges—whether a chronic condition or a new diagnosis—I help both parents and kids process the shock, disappointment, and life adjustments that come with change. Having walked this road personally with my own children’s health journeys, I understand how overwhelming it can feel, and I bring both professional insight and heartfelt empathy to this work—helping families hold onto hope and peace even in uncertainty.

And for women in midlife, I understand the juggle of caring for aging parents, supporting kids, managing shifting hormones, and trying not to lose yourself in the mix. Therapy can be your space to breathe, reset, and reconnect with your strength and purpose.

What I Love About Being a Therapist

What I love most about being a therapist is the privilege of walking alongside people in both their pain and their growth. There’s something incredibly meaningful about watching a child light up with confidence, seeing a parent exhale with relief, or hearing a woman say, “I finally feel like myself again.”

I find deep joy in helping kids discover their strengths, parents build trust and confidence, and women reconnect with hope and purpose. Being part of that transformation—seeing people find courage, peace, and connection—is what inspires me every day.

How I See Myself as a Therapist

I see myself as a client-centered and client-paced guide. Someone who walks alongside you, helping you find direction and clarity in your unique journey. My role is not to lead the way but to support and encourage you as you explore your inner world at your own rhythm.

With acceptance and compassion, I create a space where you can feel safe to uncover difficult truths, heal old wounds, and discover new strengths. Together, we’ll work toward greater understanding and healing, always honoring where you are and what you need in the moment.

What Makes Me Unique as a Therapist?

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in special education, which taught me that everyone learns, feels, and heals differently. That experience shaped how I approach therapy—with creativity, flexibility, and a deep respect for each person’s unique story.

I often use play therapy and other creative methods with kids to help them express emotions and build confidence. With adults and families, I incorporate practical coping tools and communication strategies that make life outside of therapy feel more manageable and connected.

Whether you’re a child learning to believe in yourself, a parent trying to navigate a new diagnosis, or a woman juggling life’s many roles, I tailor our work to fit you—not the other way around.

Education and Professional Background

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University (June 2025), as well as a Master of Education in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (1997).

I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from New Mexico State University (1994). I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate and have received training in play therapy techniques. In addition, I’m currently working toward certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Gottman Level 1 trained.

What My Clients Say

One thing I often hear—both from my adolescent and teen clients who don’t want our sessions to end, and from those who’ve worked with me—is that I’m a great listener who truly understands their needs.

Clients appreciate how I adapt my approach to fit them, making them feel seen, heard, and supported throughout their healing journey. I’m excited to continue growing and helping more people find their path forward.

Hobbies & Fun Facts

I love spending time with family and friends—whether it’s hiking, playing games, or cheering on Colorado’s sports teams.

I’m a lifelong learner and enjoy listening to audiobooks and podcasts.

Creative outlets like drawing and painting help me relax and stay inspired.
