WHAT IS TELEHEALTH?
Telehealth is the online distance version of a healthcare visit. All healthcare professionals are able to provide telehealth sessions to clients, depending on the issue. For mental health services, telehealth or teletherapy is a great way to practice your self-care and progress in your emotional wellness. You may have heard it called online counseling, e-therapy, telehealth, virtual therapy. Whatever you call it, research has shown teletherapy to be just as effective as in person sessions and we are excited to offer this avenue to continue to journey alongside you towards healing and hope.
At Authentic Connections Counseling Center (AC3), our teletherapy sessions are done on video or phone. This gives clients the flexibility to pick whichever method they prefer to do their counseling sessions. For video sessions, we provide a free and easy to use video service that can be accessed through laptop, desk computer, phone, or tablet. Our video service is HIPAA compliant. Check out more on how to access your appointment here.
During the COVID-19 crisis, we are having to adapt on a daily if not hourly basis. At AC3 we have chosen to stay healthy and protect the community by moving to completely online therapy sessions. This allows us to still meet you while the “shelter-in-place” is in effect to continue your therapeutic journey.
- FLEXIBILITY and CONVIENENCE
Not only just for now during the COVID-19 pandemic, but there are other times teletherapy it is a great option as well. You can schedule an appointment at a time that works for you. This allows for time to get a work out in, make a healthy meal, play with your kids, exercise, or make it to a social outing. You may have car trouble or maybe your boss assigned an unexpected project on you and you need to work late. Instead of missing your session, teletherapy lets you still make your session when unexpected things come up.

WHAT ABOUT PRIVACY?
While the therapists at AC3 use a HIPAA compliant platform and a private room to virtually meet with you, some people are concerned about privacy in their homes, especially during the shelter in place order. We recommend some different ways to help ensure your privacy at home.
- Go into your bedroom or bathroom and close the door
- Use headphones
- Go for a walk
- Sit in your car
- Use a conference room (when back at work) with a sign “do not disturb, meeting in place”
- Use a white noise app and place your phone or tablet by the door of the room you are in
