Do your friends and family tell you that you “just need to relax” or “quit worrying,” but you just can’t seem to? Does your mind run on a loop playing the worst possible outcome over and over? Perhaps you even find yourself lying awake at night, unable to stop the racing thoughts. Dealing with anxiety is challenging and it can go unnoticed for so long. We believe that you deserve to live in the present. And, anxiety treatment can help you do just that.

Doesn’t everyone have anxiety?

Most people at some time in their life will feel overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed. This is quite common and actually a healthy thing when your body is signaling your brain to “slow down” or “run” when faced with perceived danger. However, when anxiety has become so overwhelming that it is impacting your daily life, it might be time to ask for help.

You feel a sense of doom lurking all the time. Likewise, your nervous thoughts have turned into more fears that keep you from doing things you used to enjoy. Perhaps your world is feeling smaller, which actually makes you feel safer. Consequently, you can’t sleep through the night. Are you constantly asking yourself “what if….?” In addition, your heart races more than you would like to admit and you’ve cut out the caffeine, but nothing seems to help.

Health Anxiety

Recently, we have seen a rise in medical or health anxiety. If you find yourself battling health anxiety, please know that we are ready to support you. You are not alone, and this is not a unique struggle. Our therapists are trained to handle medical and health anxiety and would be honored to help you through it.

Panic Attacks

Many people often experience what is called a “panic attack.” But at the time, they often don’t understand what is happening. During panic attacks, people often experience major physical symptoms, such as increased heart rate, dizziness, sweating, hyperventilation, or feeling as though they are in a tunnel. Individuals also describe having terrifying thoughts such as “I am dying” or “I am going to have a heart attack” even though this is not reality. This can often feel as if it came “out of the blue” or, perhaps there is a known trigger behind it. Our therapists have been expertly trained to work alongside you and figure out why this is happening. In fact, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Splanka, and mindfulness have been amazing at treating anxiety. All of which our counselors are experts in.
